Farmers 'Perception and Participation of Rice Farming Business Insurance (AUTP) Program with Agricultural Interest

The implementation of the rice farming insurance program (AUTP) by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia is based on providing guarantees against the risk of uncertainty or crop failure losses. Farmers as insurance tenants get premium assistance if they experience a risk, but relatively few farmers follow it and in some areas it only reaches 12.87%. This study aims to determine the socio-economic picture of farmers, farmers' perceptions and participation of the rice farm insurance program, and its relationship with interest in farming (case: Farmers in Lebak Regency, Banten Province). This type of research is a survey on a quantitative descriptive approach. The object and location are determined purposively on rice farmers who are located in Lebak Regency, Banten Province. Determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula and proportional random sampling technique as many as 105 respondents spread across the Peujeuh Mandiri, Sari Asih, Tani Makmur and Surya Tani farmer groups. Data analysis used descriptive tabulation and chi-square statistics to see the relationship between variables with ordinal data provisions. The findings explain that the characteristics of the majority of respondents are low education level, old age, have narrow cultivated land, lack of awareness of following socialization, the level of perception and participation of farmers towards the AUTP program is low. The variable of the level of perception and participation in the AUTP program has a significant relationship with interest in farming, where the increase in interest in farming is directly proportional to the level of perception and participation in the AUTP program.
