The Effectiveness of Herbal Medicine for Sleep Quality in People with Sleep Disorder
An Update Literature Review with Single Database (PubMed)

The use of herbal medicine has been widely practiced in various treatments ranging from symptoms to chronic diseases. A 2015 meta-analysis of Chinese herbal medicine for sleep disorders reported finding no significant difference with placebo use, but an updated study with an RCT design shows strength. So researchers did an updated review of herbal remedies for sleep disorders. The research design is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach. analytical methods using a thematic analysis approach. Search for articles using keywords: (((herbal medicine) OR (chinese medical herbal) AND (y_10 [Filter])) AND ((sleep disorder) OR (insomnia) AND (y_10 [Filter]))) AND (sleep quality AND (y_10 [Filter])) with inclusion criteria for the year published 2010-2020 using a randomized controlled trial study design in English and Indonesian. Literature updates related to herbal remedies for sleep disorders show that various herbal remedies are effective for sleep disorders because they contain sedative-hypnotic properties that increase a sense of calm. the frequency of treatment ranged from 20 weeks to 28 days. Renewal of herbal remedies has been shown to be effective in treating sleep disorders. This study is still limited to one database user so it has a high bias in making conclusions.
