Abstract

Situ Gintung is an artificial lake that has green open space, has the potential to store high biodiversity. Studies on the potential for biodiversity in the Situ Gintung area are still very limited, especially low-level plants such as ferns. Ferns (Pteridophyta) are classified as spore-forming, homosporous, seedless, non-flowering plants, so their distribution is quite wide. This study aims to identify the presence and diversity of ferns in the Situ Gintung area, South Tangerang City. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct exploration or roaming methods (Cruise Method). The results of the identification of the diversity of ferns in the Situ Gintung area were obtained as many as 6 types of families and 10 species, namely Adiantum capillus-veneris, Asplenium nidus L., Nephrolepis biserrata, Phymatosorus scolopendria, Lepisorus sp., Phlebodium aureum, Pyrrosia piloselloides L., Pteris cretica L., Pteris vittata, Phegopteris connectilis. Habitat for plants found on terrestrial and epiphytes on rocks or other trees. Physical environmental parameters in the Situ Gintung area show the air temperature in the range of 33.2oC - 28.3oC, humidity of 70-80%, and light intensity of 494-572 Lux. The biodiversity index of Pteridophyta is 2.08 and is in the medium category.
