The Effect of Transformational Leadership and Work Discipline on Employee Performance through Work Motivation as an Intervening Variable at the Regional Personnel Agency of Central Tapanuli Regency

There is still a lot of unfinished work, this indicates that work motivation is still low. For this reason, the leadership of a leader gives changes to the organization that is needed and the work discipline of employees to work in accordance with applicable rules. This study aims to determine the effect of transformational leadership and work discipline on performance through motivation as an intervening variable. The type of research used is explanatory research with a quantitative approach and using the path analysis method. The sample used was 31 people with a sampling technique by means of a census. The data analysis method used was descriptive statistical analysis and path analysis. From the analysis test results, it is known that transformational leadership and work discipline have a positive but not significant effect on motivation. However, transformational leadership, work discipline has a positive and significant effect on performance through motivation. Taken together, transformational leadership, work discipline and motivation have a significant effect on performance. It is known that the direct influence of transformational leadership on performance is greater than the indirect effect of transformational leadership on performance through motivation. Likewise, the direct influence of work discipline on performance is greater than the indirect effect of transformational leadership on performance through motivation.
