Abstract

This best practice writing aims to enhance the calculation skills of multiplication and division operations using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model for fourth-grade students of MIN 19 Bireuen in the academic year 2022-2023. This best practice report was conducted over two learning sessions. The subjects of this research were teachers and fourth-grade students of MIN 19 Bireuen for the academic year 2022-2023, consisting of 16 students; 12 boys and 4 girls. To determine the results of the learning activities, teaching was conducted over two sessions, before and after using the realistic learning model or method. Drawing conclusions. The best practice report findings indicate that the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education learning model can improve multiplication and division calculation skills in fourth-grade students of MIN 19 Bireuen for the academic year 2022-2023. This improvement can be evidenced in the learning before using the realistic method where there were 4 students, or 26%, who scored above the KKTP 7.1 and 12 students below the KKTP or 18.75%. After employing the realistic learning model, there was a very significant surge in student learning outcomes on multiplication and division materials. There were 13 students who scored above the KKTP or 81.25% and 3 students who still scored below the KKTP or 18.75%. Thus, the use of the realistic learning method or model can enhance student learning outcomes regarding multiplication and division in the fourth grade.
